Nesta última Quarta-feira (01.06) perdi um evento aqui em Jerusalém que não poderia ter perdido, mas como ainda não conheço o calendário da cidade só fiquei sabendo à noite, após o encerramento dos principais acontecimentos.
Trata-se da celebração da retomada e reunificação de Jerusalém Oriental pelas tropas do Exército de Israel em 1967, na famosa Guerra dos Seis Dias.
Neste ano, como não poderia deixar de ser, rolou muitas pedradras e prisões, além de discussões, não somente entre palestinos e judeus, como também entre judeus de direita e de esquerda que se acusavam, mutuamente, de fascistas e traidores, neste caso "fascistas" os de direita que sonham, ainda, com a restauração do Grande Israel dos Reis David e Salomão, há três mil anos, jogando os palestinos não sei para onde, e "traidores" os de esquerda, que são favoráveis a concessões para a criação de um estado palestino.
Segundo o Porta Voz da Polícia Micky Rosenfeld, citado pela Agência francesa AFP, mais de quarenta mil israelitas, na sua maioria formada por jovens provenientes de todo o país, participaram do desfile que começou no bairro palestino de Cheikh Jarrah.
No trajeto do cortejo que termina à entrada do Portão de Damasco, os comerciantes palestinos fecharam suas portas para evitar maiores confrontos e problemas.
A forte presença de um contingente de três mil policiais impediu maiores problemas, mas mesmo assim, 24 pessoas foram presas.
Diante do Knesset, na própria Quarta-feira, o Primeiro Ministro, Benjamim Netanyahu, voltou a afirmar a indivisibilidade de Jerusalém e disse mais: "a nossa geração libertou Jerusalém e hoje estamos a construí-la. Decerto que a nova geração vai continuar a construir e Jerusalém vai tornar-se numa cidade internacional da qual nos vamos orgulhar".
Mesmo com toda a pressão internacional, parece que este é um problema sem qualquer indício de solução no horizonte próximo.

Last Wednesday (June 1st) I missed an event here, in Jerusalem, which I regret so badly not being able to attend to. However, I'm still getting acquainted to the local calendar and, when the main celebrations of it came to my knowledge, it was already late in the day.
I'm referring to the celebrations regarding the repossession of Jerusalem (and Jerusalem reunited), which happened when israeli troops repossessed the Eastern Jerusalem during the well-known Six-Day War in 1967.
During the celebrations this year, as it usually happens every year, throwing of stones and people being arrested on the streets was a common sight to see, besides the quarrels not only between palestinians and jews but also between left wing and right wing jews who blame their counterparts of being fascist and traitors. In this case, the "fascist" ones being the right wing jews who still aim for the restoration of the Great Israel of Kings David and Solomon, getting rid of the Palestinians three thousand years ago; the "traitors" being the left wing jews who are for the concessions regarding the creation of the Palestinian State.
According to Micky Rosenfeld, the speaker for the Police, quoted by the French Agency AFP, more than 40 thousand israeli people, in its majority being the youth gathered from all corners of the country, joined the parade that started in the Palestine neighborhood of Cheikh Jarrah.
The parade had its final destination at the entrance of the Damascus Gate and Palestine merchants shut down their business to avoid confrontation.
Although the presence of more than 3 thousand policeman made possible a less-troublesome event, still 24 people were arrested.
